I’m delighted to be organising and hosting a wedding event at Cedar Farm Galleries, Mawdesley on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June. Let the artists and craftspeople at Cedar Farm help you create the wedding that’s perfect for you; one that suits your personal style, with handmade details that you’ll treasure forever. Locally grown flowers, natural wedding styling, bespoke dresses and jewellery, letterpress printed invitations, relaxed and informal photography and lots of gift ideas will be on show in the Courses Room and in the businesses around Cedar Farm throughout the weekend. See the Cedar Farm website for more details and directions Please contact individual businesses directly if you would like to book a personal consultationnosegay_sweetpeas_Lavender

It’s been a great summer for British Flowers and this year I challenged myself to broaden the range of flowers I grow and use for weddings. It’s easy just to offer roses, but they are almost always imported and brides are increasingly aware of their high carbon footprint. There are so many other beautiful flowers that we can grow easily and I like the idea of wedding flowers reminding brides of the season. I bought a lot of dahlias this year, and whilst they are not to everyone’s taste, they are gorgeous for informal garden bouquets in late summer like this one.  Almost everything in this bouquet is from my own cutting garden and it really is an “all of the garden” bouquet with plenty of white and blue to add to the bright orange of the dahlias and Carthamus (orange thistle-like flower). The Scabious complement the orange shades perfectly and for me this is the essence of a late summer morning.
